After the recovery of the La Boca Dam due to the rains caused by Tropical Storm "Alberto", tourism has returned to the municipality of Santiago. With the arrival of Holy Week, the mayor, David de la Peña, estimates that around 150 thousand visitors will arrive in the area.
"There is indeed the issue of the dam... yes, it was a significant amount (of lost tourism), 70% was affected during the water crisis," commented De la Peña. Today, according to him, the economic situation has recovered by 100%.
According to De la Peña, Santiago receives approximately 120 thousand tourists to the Magical Town each week. For the vacation season, around 150 thousand people are expected to visit, and the municipality declares itself ready to serve all visitors.
The mayor mentioned that Santiago is experiencing its best moment with enough water, security, and all the necessary services for both tourists and residents to enjoy a good quality of life in the area.
The La Boca Dam is one of the most prominent attractions in Nuevo León. During the water crisis, it lost some of its appeal, but it has now regained its splendor. De la Peña emphasized: "We have everything for you to have a good time: good services, gastronomy, the dam is full...".
